Canadian star Part is one of the most well-known faces in darts, having won two World Championship titles in a glittering career.

John enjoyed a whirlwind start to his career after only taking up the sport seriously when he was bought a dartboard at Christmas in 1987.

Four years later he won his first title and in 1994 stunned the darting world as the unknown foreigner who romped through the field to win the Embassy Championship.

He joined the PDC in 1997, having established himself as the leading player in North America with a string of Open wins.

His first televised final came at the Circus Tavern in January 2001, when Part took on Phil Taylor in the World Championship final.

Part suffered further defeats to Taylor in the World Matchplay and World Grand Prix that year before finally getting the better of his nemesis in the 2003 World Championship final with a 7-6 victory in an epic contest.

Defeats in the final of the Las Vegas Desert Classic, to Peter Manley, and the World Grand Prix - again at the hands of Taylor - helped Part to claim the number one spot in the world rankings.

Now recognised as Canada's greatest ever darts player, Part has slipped down the rankings in the past 18 months, although reaching the final of the 2004 Budweiser UK Open and 2005 Stan James World Matchplay shows that he still has the talent and desire to add further trophies to his roll of honour.
